Yes yes, I know Christmas passed already, but better late than never!

This is a gift for ~J-Cleo, since she's awesome and all that :dummy: I really hope you get a kick out of it, I had fun doing this despite the couple hiccups I had :P Overall, I think it came out pretty good, all things considered...

Enjoy~

That first "panel" is gorgeous. I don't even know why. It's probably his expression. Everything is just so fluid about it. <3

I really love how you did the lineart. So clean and smooth. Do you use SAI? I was wondering what your canvas and brush setting for this. XD

Thank you! Yup, I use Sai, the glorious program that it is. (I can't stand PS lines anymore 8D;; )I actually just use the standard pen settings. Here's a screencap I did for someone that was interested in my lineart: [link] For the holiday piece, though, I didn't bother going back and varying my lines |D;; so that's their basic state. It was 6x20 at 300dpi and my brush was at 12. Anything I finish is at print resolution these days, so my lineart comfortably sits between 10~14. Working big also means little mistakes are easily hidden. |3

As far as technique goes, I use broad, quick strokes. I draw and undo them until I get it right (trial and error really), which looks like a pain, but for me it actually makes it go faster and still retains a smooth appearance~

Ah yes, it's better to draw/color at print resolution but only if you have a good PC. TuT

Oh god, quick strokes, you must have the patience for it. But I assume that your career/field is in illustration/graphic, so I mustn't be weird hearing this. OuO

and gosh, one of these days I'm hoping to know how you did anime-looking pics like [link] and [link] . They look so.. I don't know how to describe it. Like you know, when in anime when there's a sweet or 'pretty' or 'flirty' scene come up, there's this white smokey thing seems to cover the picture. XDD

Ah sorry for asking too much~ but I just found out about those two Nox's anime-pics aahh~ :heart:

Your comp can't handle it? D: Does it lag bad or something?

Haha, yup. Just am finishing my degree actually! Though I think I'd have less patience trying to draw it exactly on the first run, lol.

I actually am setting up a tutorial on those kind of images~ Or, I was. I was using this image for it: [link] but despite using the same techniques, people didn't quite see it like a fake screencap (I don't think) so... I lost my confidence with completing the tutorial 8D;;; Maybe I should anyway...

Thank you though, glad you like them! <33 I don't mind the questions. XD

Actually my laptop can still handle big files but I prefer not to do it.. Yeah, it will lag or something. ^^;

That's cool, congrats! XDD So you're job hunting or something?

ehhh~ They didn't? But I do see it as a fake screencap~ :XD: oh my god please do have the confidence to complete the tutorial :iconbigeyesplz:

Aaa..~ thank you~ why you so sweet~ ;u;

I still say try experimenting with a bigger file and see how it does~ I typically do 11x17, but you could try 8.5x11. And printing range is typically 150-350dpi. (I stick to 250 or 300) It's one of those things that's better to get used to early, especially if you want to go into the field. (Not sure on your plans though =O )

Yeah, kinda. I'd like to find a steady job doing graphic design or something, simple things, at a company while I work on launching Midwinter. Midwinter's not going to bring in any money to our pockets until it gets big, so I need to retain a primary job for some time. In the future I'd like to do Midwinter primarily with freelance jobs on the side, or a teaching job here and there at my local college.

Hahaha, well, they might've seen it as a screencap! I guess the last two times I just got comments on how they thought it looked like a real anime, like it was from a show, etc. that I didn't get with this one. But people seemed more humored by the content, which isn't a bad thing. |D

I'll throw it together soon~
